Product Description

GHK-Cu (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine:copper(II)) is a naturally occurring tripeptide-copper complex first identified in human plasma by Dr. Loren Pickart in 1973. It is found in plasma, saliva, and urine, with plasma levels declining significantly with age — from approximately 200 ng/mL at age 20 to 80 ng/mL by age 60. GHK-Cu has a high affinity for copper(II) ions and has been the subject of extensive research for its roles in stimulating collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis, promoting tissue remodeling, activating wound repair processes, and modulating gene expression related to anti-inflammatory and antioxidant pathways.

Laboratory Product Information

📦 Includes

One (1) vial of GHK-Cu lyophilized powder (50mg per vial), Certificate of Analysis (COA). Reconstitution with acetic acid 0.6% recommended to maintain Cu²⁺ coordination stability.

🔬 Purpose

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring tripeptide–copper(II) complex found in human plasma and tissues. It is studied in in-vitro models for effects on collagen synthesis in fibroblast cultures, decorin expression, metalloproteinase modulation, and antioxidant gene regulation.

🧬 Ingredients

GHK-Cu (Gly-His-Lys:Cu(II)) tripeptide–copper complex lyophilized powder, ≥99% purity (HPLC verified). No fillers, binders, or excipients.

🔬 Laboratory Handling Information

  • Molecular Formula: C₁₄H₂₂CuN₆O₄ (as copper complex); C₁₄H₂₄N₆O₄ (free GHK peptide)
  • Molecular Weight: ~403.9 Da (GHK-Cu complex); 340.38 Da (free GHK)
  • Amino Acid Sequence: Gly-His-Lys (GHK; 3 residues, linear) complexed with one Cu²⁺ ion coordinated through imidazole nitrogen of His and terminal amine
  • Solubility: Soluble in sterile acetic acid 0.6% or mildly acidic aqueous buffers to maintain copper–peptide coordination
  • Storage: Store lyophilized product at 2–8°C; reconstituted aliquots at −20°C; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles
  • Literature Reference: Referenced at 1–100 nM for in-vitro fibroblast collagen synthesis and metalloproteinase modulation assays (PubMed: Pickart et al., Int J Mol Sci, 2015)
